My Story

Sofía Monzón Rodríguez is an Assistant Professor of Translation and Interpretation at Utah State University. She holds a Ph.D. in Transnational and Comparative Literatures from the University of Alberta (Canada), an MA. in Spanish from Auburn University (United States), an MA. in Public Service Translation and Interpreting and a BA. in Modern Languages and Translation Studies, both from Universidad de Alcalá (Spain).

Dr. Monzón’s research explores the intersection of translation, censorship, and affect, focusing on the production and circulation of censored materials via translation across the Spanish-speaking world. Her poetry books, Los afectos multilingües (Valparaíso, 2024) and Alas (Editorial Club Universitario, 2019), have won or been shortlisted for several poetry awards in Spain.

Her works have appeared in specialized journals such as Mutatis Mutandis, Entreculturas, Translation Matters, Transcultural, and the publishers John Benjamins and Editorial Comares. She combines teaching and research with creative writing and literary translation.
